Mr Shafighian completed his orthopaedic training in London teaching hospitals. He was appointed to the Post of Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma at Ealing and the Royal Postgraduate Hammersmith Hospitals in London in 1988. He then moved to Banbury in 1991 and was appointed as Consultant in Orthopaedics & Trauma at the Horton Hospital and worked here until 2013.
Elective Orthopaedic procedures are performed by Mr Shafighian at Horton Treatment Centre, where his main interest is in reconstructive surgery of the knee joint.
Mr Shafighian has published numerous national and international publications on his research, to the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament using artificial prosthetic ligament and is one of the appointed champion surgeons by Biomet/Merck UK, to demonstrate live surgery of the Oxford Minimally Invasive Unicondylar Knee Replacement, to overseas Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons visiting the UK.
With Orthopaedic experience gained over 35 years, Mr Shafighian is Chairman of the Clinical Governance and the Medical Director of Horton NHS Treatment Centre.
Mr Shafighian is a member of SICOT (Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopdique et de Traumatologie), BOSTAA (British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma & Arthroscopy Association), ) and BASK. (British Association for Surgery of the Knee).
